TripAdvisor has released its latest list of the top 10 beaches to visit in Ireland. The list is dominated by The Kingdom, Kerry being home to six of those ten.
Inchydoney in West Cork receives first place, followed by Banna Strand and Inch beach respectively.
Derrynane comes in at number five, followed by Coumeenoole in West Kerry in sixth position, Rossbeigh falls in at eighth position ( very Near to Fred and Adrien’s homes – how lucky are they) proceeded by Ladies’ Beach in Ballybunion in ninth place.
The other three beaches named on the list were Strandhill in Sligo, Lahinch Co.Clare and Portmarnock in the capital, Dublin.
Kerry’s strong showing follows its win as Ireland’s Favourite Home Holiday Destination in the Irish Independent’s Reader Travel Awards 2019
“The awards recognise the best beaches in Ireland, according to the travellers that have visited and given them the highest levels of praise,” said a spokeswoman for TripAdvisor.
Kerry TD Martin Ferris was among the first to congratulate all those involved in maintaining Kerry’s beaches.
“While many of us take or beaches for granted, a huge amount of work goes into the upkeep of the coastline and thanks is due to the local communities and voluntary groups who keep a close watch and carry out voluntary clean-ups each year,” he said.
Deputy Ferris also acknowledged the fact that Kerry County Council also spends considerable resources maintaining an safeguarding the county’s beaches.
This is a huge boost for the Kerry Hospitality industry coming in the Spring/Summer season.
