We are currently recruiting a Gardener for a private Country Estate in East Kerry, Ireland. Set within a beautifully scenic and picturesque East Kerry setting, the Estate features extensive gardens and landscaped grounds, as well as a small petting zoo of unique and charming animals. The long-term vision is to create and maintain a truly exceptional, masterful garden landscape, including a kitchen garden, with strong structure, vibrant colour, and year-round beauty.
This is a Permanent, Full-Time, onsite position in the East Kerry Country Estate. It offers a rare opportunity to work within a traditional country estate environment, where pride in craftsmanship, attention to detail, and a genuine passion for horticulture are highly valued.
What You’ll Do
• Care for and maintain lawns, gardens, flower beds, hedges, and landscaped areas to a high standard
• Develop seasonal planting schemes to ensure continuous colour, structure, and interest throughout the year
• Assist in the planning and future development of a productive kitchen garden (fruit, vegetables, herbs, edible planting)
• Carry out pruning, weeding, mulching, soil care, and general horticultural maintenance
• Operate and maintain garden tools and light machinery safely and efficiently
• Support landscaping projects and the ongoing enhancement of the estate gardens
• Monitor plant health and address pests, diseases, and soil issues as required
• Contribute to the wider long-term development of a cohesive, high-quality country garden landscape
What We’re Looking For
• Previous experience in gardening, horticulture, or estate/grounds maintenance
• Strong knowledge of plants, seasonal planting, and soil care
• Interest in developing or working within a kitchen garden is an advantage
• Confidence using standard garden machinery and tools
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
• Reliable, practical, and able to work independently or as part of a small team
• A horticultural qualification (e.g. RHS Level 2/3 or equivalent) is an advantage but not essential
• A genuine interest in traditional country estate gardening is highly desirable
