What a morning in Farranfore, Co Kerry. We had the absolute pleasure of being invited to the official opening of the new Arrivals Hall at Kerry Airport Ireland and my word, the place is looking phenomenal. The team have genuinely raised the bar.
Massive thanks to Basil Sheerin, Howard Jones and Tom O’Driscoll for the kind invitation and the warm welcome. A special mention has to go to our MC for the day, John Drummey, who had the whole room in the palm of his hand as always. And hats off to the committee and board, especially the Vice Chairwoman, Kathleen O’Regan Sheppard, who absolutely stole the show with her fantastic speeche'(s). She had the place inspired and laughing in equal measure.
Hearing An Department of the Taoiseach Micheál Martin officially open the new arrivals-hall was a lovely moment for everyone involved. The redevelopment is a real credit to the airport, from the enhanced Immigration and Customs areas to the upgraded bathrooms, the bigger baggage belt and the bright modern foyer. You can feel the difference the second you walk in. The work on the Departures Area is equally impressive, with extra seating, expanded catering, a Quiet Space and an additional boarding gate, all reinforcing the airport’s commitment to giving passengers in Kerry the very best experience.
The Bishop of Kerry, Raymond Browne, delivered a beautiful prayer & blessing. Then in true Kingdom fashion, the bold Sam MaGuire popped out from behind a door to greet our Taoiseach. Only in Kerry would a trophy make a cameo like that.
A huge well done to everyone who brought this multi-million euro development from plans on paper to a stunning reality. This includes former CEO John Mulhern , who led the airport staff through five yea
rs of challenge and progress. Roll on the next chapter for Kerry Airport, the pride of the Kingdom.
And one final shout to the catering team. The food was absolutely fabulous. Thank you so much!!
