We are presently recruiting for an Engineering Manager to lead all engineering, maintenance, utilities, and continuous improvement activities within a small production manufacturing facility based in County Kerry. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, efficiency, compliance, and long-term performance of plant equipment and infrastructure in a highly regulated production environment. You will lead a small multidisciplinary engineering team while working closely with Production, Quality, Supply Chain, EHS, Validation, and Senior Leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintaining operational continuity, driving engineering excellence, supporting production growth, and ensuring compliance with GMP, quality, environmental, and health & safety standards.
- Lead and manage all engineering and maintenance operations across the site.
- Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance programmes to maximise equipment uptime and plant reliability.
- Ensure rapid and effective response to equipment breakdowns and operational disruptions.
- Manage maintenance planning systems, spare parts inventory, and contractor performance.
- Drive engineering best practices, root cause analysis, and continuous reliability improvements.
- Lead capital expenditure projects from concept through commissioning and validation.
- Manage engineering budgets, project timelines, and contractor relationships.
- Ensure engineering operations comply with GMP, HPRA, veterinary manufacturing regulations, and internal quality standards.
- Support audits and inspections from regulatory authorities and customers.
- Maintain documentation relating to maintenance, calibration, validation support, and engineering change controls.
- Promote a strong safety culture across the engineering and maintenance functions.
- Lead risk assessments, permit-to-work systems, and contractor safety management.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or related discipline).
- Minimum 5–7 years’ engineering leadership experience within a regulated manufacturing environment.
- Experience in pharmaceutical, veterinary, food, medical device, or life sciences manufacturing preferred.
