Red Chair Recruitment is seeking a friendly, customer-focused Trade Counter Assistant to join our client, a leading hardware and agricultural retailer in Listowel, County Kerry. This role suits someone who enjoys working with customers, thrives in a busy environment, and takes pride in delivering excellent service. Previous experience in retail or hardware sales is an advantage, but full training will be provided.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, a positive and helpful attitude, and the ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team. The role involves managing day-to-day sales enquiries, processing customer orders and quotations, and supporting customers with knowledgeable product advice.
Key Responsibilities
- Serving customers at the trade counter in a professional and friendly manner
- Processing sales, orders, and quotations accurately
- Handling cash and card transactions
- Building and maintaining positive customer relationships
- Maintaining attractive and well-organised shop displays
- Assisting with stock control and inventory management
- Providing advice on a wide range of hardware, agricultural, and building products
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year’s experience in a trade counter or similar customer-facing role
- Hardware, trade, or agricultural knowledge is an advantage
- Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and basic IT skills
