Red Chair Recruitment is hiring a motivated 3rd Year Apprentice Mechanic to join a well-established family-run business in Macroom, that has built an excellent reputation for after-sales service and customer care. This role offers the chance to develop your skills further while working alongside qualified mechanics in a supportive and professional environment. As a 3rd Year Apprentice Mechanic, you will assist qualified mechanics in carrying out a wide range of servicing, repair, and maintenance tasks. You will continue building hands-on experience across all aspects of the trade while working towards completing your apprenticeship.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior mechanics with diagnostics, servicing, and vehicle repairs.
- Carry out routine maintenance such as oil changes, brake inspections, and tyre replacements.
- Support troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems under supervision.
- Learn to use diagnostic equipment and workshop tools effectively and safely.
- Follow technical instructions, service manuals, and equipment are kept in good order.
- Maintain workshop organisation, ensuring tools and equipment are kept in good order.
- Record tasks completed and parts used, reporting progress to supervisors.
- Contribute to a positive team environment while developing problem-solving skills.
Requirements
- Currently in the 3rd year of an apprenticeship in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent).
- Successfully completed the first and second year of apprenticeship training.
- Strong knowledge of basic automotive systems and servicing procedures.
- Familiarity with workshop tools, diagnostic equipment and safety protocols.
- Full driving licence.
- Willingness to learn, adapt and grow within a team environment.
