Teamwork makes the dream work.
Last week the Red Chair team left Killarney and headed back south as part of our well being initiatives and team building activities. We decided to take a day away from the office and traveled to the heritage site of Skellig Michael that is located roughly 8 miles off the coast of Kerry.
Rising majestically from the sea, Skellig Michael towers 218 metres above sea level. On the summit of this awe-inspiring rock you will find a remarkably well preserved sixth century monastic settlement. On the spectacular Small Skelligs 23,000 pairs of gannet nest on every available ledge making it the second largest gannet colony in the world. A visit to this major tourist attraction may well be the highlight of your holiday to Kerry or if you are a Kerry native then it is definitely worth the day trip out to the monument to witness it in person.
We are extremely proud of our Kerry heritage and home roots and love to take every opportunity that we can in order to get out and explore the beautiful county that we live in.
The day started off a little bit dull but the weather soon cleared up and an amazing day was enjoyed by all. Craic was had, laughs were shared and puffins were seen (which some of our team members were very excited about.)
At Red Chair Recruitment we firmly believe that a happy team is a productive team. Team building brings people closer together by encouraging collaboration and teamwork. Fun activities that help people see each other in a different light allow them to connect in a different setting. One of the most powerful reasons for team building is to get results. Through a series of planned team building events that are both fun and motivational, teams build skills like communication, planning, problem-solving and conflict resolution.
Socializing and creating friendships in the workplace is one of the best ways to increase productivity in the office. Not only does it increase morale in the office, it also allows for the office work better at solving everyday workplace issues.
One of the most profound benefits of team building exercises is to have fun. It’s often overlooked, however we feel that it is one of the most important benefits to have in any working environment. Team building events will reinforce the value of having fun in the workplace and what significant results can actually be achieved when fun is incorporated to everyday work life. At Red Chair Recruitment of course we like to hit targets and achieve results, it boosts the morale in the office as well as contributing to our credibility as a company but we like to have fun doing it. A positive and enthusiastic team will create a positive morale in the workplace. Team building programs can often identify barriers to positive morale and highlight strategies to create more fun and optimistic environment in day-to-day work.
Mental health has become quite a hot topic in recent times, especially for those people who work in offices and other corporate environments. Being stuck in the same routine and under large amounts of stress can eventually cause a shift in mental well being amongst office workers. Team building activities can be a great way to break up the office’s daily routine while also establishing relationships and thorough communication processes.
Another great aspect of team building activities is that emphasizes the idea that no person is an island and that working in an office should not cause them to isolate themselves. It can be easy to disconnect and isolate yourself when there is a lot of work to get done and deadlines to meet, but these types of activities reinforce that your coworkers are there to help you. Team building activities thrive on proper team work. Team building activities remind you that it is okay to ask for help and is sometimes the only way to get things done.
