Red Chair Recruitment are currently seeking a skilled Marine Mechanic to join our client’s team in Dún Laoghaire, County Dublin. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, servicing, and repairing inboard and outboard marine engines, along with associated mechanical systems. This role involves carrying out preventative maintenance, performance testing, and working closely with technical teams to maximise equipment reliability while ensuring full compliance with safety and maritime standards. Accurate service documentation is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine maintenance, fault-finding, and repairs on diesel engines, outboard motors, and inboard propulsion systems
- Inspect, diagnose, and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults on marine vessels
- Perform engine overhauls, cooling system flushes, and fuel system servicing to maintain optimal performance
- Install, configure, and test new mechanical components, propellers, and marine equipment
- Interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic data
- Maintain accurate service logs, inspection reports, and parts inventory records
- Follow all relevant safety procedures and maritime regulations during maintenance and repair work
- Work closely with vessel crews, supervisors, and fellow technicians to schedule and prioritise tasks
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year’s experience in a similar role
- Marine Engineering or Mechanical diploma/certificate
- Training in diesel engines and outboard motors
- Manufacturer certifications are an advantage
- Basic welding and electrical skills
