Red Chair Recruitment are seeking a Design Engineer to join our growing team. This role focuses on supporting client projects from initial drawings through to final quotation. You will work directly with customer-supplied drawings, applying your SolidWorks expertise to modify and enhance designs by integrating company products and solutions that meet the client’s requirements.
This is a hands-on, client-focused engineering role combining technical design, problem-solving, and commercial awareness.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and interpret technical drawings and specifications provided by clients.
- Modify and update designs using SolidWorks to incorporate company products and required components.
- Prepare accurate and detailed 3D models, assemblies, and production-ready drawings.
- Liaise with clients to clarify technical requirements and propose practical design solutions.
- Work closely with internal manufacturing teams to ensure designs are practical, efficient, and cost-effective to produce.
- Generate detailed quotations with clear cost breakdowns for materials, components, and manufacturing processes.
- Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to streamline designs and reduce production costs.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant engineering standards and internal quality requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
- 2+ years’ experience in a design engineering or CAD-focused role (manufacturing environment preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- Strong proficiency in SolidWorks is essential.
- Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and core engineering principles
