We are presently recruiting for a Garage / Service Manager to oversee a team of Machinery and HGV Mechanics for our clients in County Kerry. The company in question has over 50 vehicles in its fleet as well as plant machinery and require someone to ensure the smooth running of the fleet department and to ensure all services requirements are met and breakdowns kept to a minimum. You will come from either a main dealer background or from commercial vehicles and will have a strong understand of machinery, IT skills and the ability to manage a team of roughly 10 mechanics.
This is a full-time position, based in Killarney, County Kerry.
Key Accountabilities:
- Responsible for job allocation and job flow in the workshop
- Take responsibility for parts purchasing, vehicle repairs, daily walk-around supervision, health & safety control.
- Overseeing the weekly rostering of staff and allocation of duties to mechanics.
- Plan and organise Preventive Maintenance System
- Ensure correct job numbers, time records & parts costs are recorded.
- Provide oversight and check job estimates.
- Ensure that garage, yard and security health & safety procedures are followed at all times and all necessary annual tests and certificates are kept up-to-date.
- Maintenance & Scheduling of 12 Month Maintenance Plan for full fleet
- Conduct final check/test driving for all vehicles/trucks prior to release
- Leads a group of 10 mechanics and helpers with Hands-on supervision of all workshop activities.
Requirements:
- 4+ years’ experience in a similar role.
- Full knowledge of MS Office – Excel; Word; Outlook etc
- Full Driving Licence – HGV a bonus
- Flexibility, willing to carry out variety of tasks/ activities requested and is prepared to work additional hours as may be necessary from time to time.
