Red Chair Recruitment is hiring a Lead Data Engineer for a rapidly growing tech company in retail analytics and financial automation.
You’ll take ownership of building a new cloud data platform as the business moves from on-prem SQL Server/SSIS to a modern cloud environment. This is a hands-on technical lead role with real influence over architecture, tooling, and data strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead design and delivery of a new cloud data platform.
- Migrate SQL Server, SSIS, and Python workflows to the cloud.
- Build scalable ingestion pipelines for ePOS, accounting, and third-party data.
- Implement data quality, validation, monitoring, and lineage.
- Optimise Power BI datasets and performance.
- Partner with software engineering on integrations.
- Define standards for modelling, cost control, and operational excellence.
Experience & Skills
- 5+ years in data engineering or data platform development.
- Strong SQL Server expertise (modelling, optimisation, ETL).
- Cloud data platform experience (Azure/AWS/GCP).
- Skilled in modern pipelines, orchestration, and transformations.
- Power BI modelling and performance tuning.
- Solid understanding of governance, lineage, and reliability.
Nice to Have: ADF, dbt, Airflow; AI/ML exposure; retail/financial/SaaS experience; CI/CD for data platforms.
