We are seeking a Garage Service Manager to lead a team of Machinery and HGV Mechanics for our client in County Kerry. You will manage a fleet department with over 50 vehicles, including plant machinery, ensuring smooth operations, timely servicing, and minimizing breakdowns. You will bring experience from either a main dealer or commercial vehicle background, along with strong technical knowledge of machinery, IT proficiency, and the ability to effectively manage a team of approximately 10 mechanics.
This is a full-time position based in Killarney, County Kerry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Allocate jobs and manage workflow in the workshop.
- Oversee parts purchasing, vehicle repairs, daily walk-around inspections, and health & safety protocols.
- Manage staff rosters and assign duties to mechanics.
- Plan and organize the Preventive Maintenance System for the fleet.
- Ensure accurate job numbers, time records, and parts costs are documented.
- Review and approve job estimates.
- Enforce health & safety procedures in the garage, yard, and during vehicle maintenance.
- Maintain and schedule the 12-Month Maintenance Plan for the full fleet.
- Conduct final inspections and test drives for all vehicles before release.
- Provide hands-on supervision of all workshop activities and lead a team of 10 mechanics and helpers.
Candidate Requirements:
- At least 4 years of experience in a similar role.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- A valid driver’s license; HGV license is a bonus.
- Flexibility to handle a variety of tasks and occasional additional hours as required.
