What an incredible day at Abbey Wood, Killarney NP, Co Kerry! This week, our team at Red Chair Recruitment took part in our “giveback” day, stepping out of our comfort zones to work alongside the inspiring Killarney Meitheal team. Suited up (hard hats, safety goggles, gloves and waterproofs) and ready for the challenge, we spent Tuesday clearing rhododendrons and preparing the area for chipping.
A huge thank you to Killarney Meitheal “Office of Public Works” for everything you’re doing to revive the National Park — it’s remarkable!
Seeing the crystal-clear stream, vibrant plants, and wildlife reclaiming the cleared spaces was truly stunning. Your efforts are making a lasting impact on Killarney and all who visit this beautiful park. 🙌
I encourage more Kerry-based companies, sports teams, and community groups to join us in this meaningful work to restore Abbey Wood. If you’re looking for a powerful way to give back, please consider being part of this special project!
A massive shoutout to the incredible volunteers who tirelessly work every Tuesday & Sunday, rain or shine, from 9 a.m. to noon, driving this project forward. More hands make light work, and we saw that firsthand as we cleared several acres of the ever-persistent rhododendrons.
Thank you to John McGuire, Stacey MacSweeney, Peter O’Toole, and Padraig Treacy for organising such an impactful day. Special thanks to the amazing chainsaw crew for your hard work, and to Paddy McGuire from Bricín Restaurant for the best-ever sausage rolls and sweet tea!
