We are presently recruiting a Cost Accountant for our clients in County Kerry. Reporting to company directors, you will be tasked with analysing and interpret financial data to provide insights into cost control and optimisation strategies and to develop and implement cost reduction initiatives and process for further overall operational improvement, company development and profitability. This is a full-time position with the option of hybrid working.
Responsibilities within the position:
- Prepare and maintain accurate cost records, including cost of goods sold, inventory valuation, and overhead allocation.
- Monitor manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with cost standards and identify areas for efficiency gains.
- Conduct regular cost variance analyses and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
- Assist in the development of annual budgets and forecasts, focusing on cost drivers and potential risks.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including reconciliations and financial reporting.
- Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards and regulations related to cost accounting practices.
- Communicate complex financial information effectively to non-financial stakeholders.
- Participate in internal and external audits, providing documentation and explanations for cost-related matters.
Qualifications and experiences:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.
- Professional accounting qualifications such as ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants), or ACA (Associate Chartered Accountant).
- 3+ years experience
- Experience with accounting software and ERP systems.
- Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
