The basics in preparation for an interview are:
- Do your research on your potential employer
- Make a portfolio
- Hardcopy of your CV x 4 (1 for you and one each for the interviewing team)
- Print offs from there website
- Notepad and a pen (very important)
- Pre-written questions on the company and the role
- Examples of your work (if applicable)
- Take these to the interview with you in a brief case
- Do a dry run of the route before the interview so that you know exactly where you are going and the time scales need to get there
- Wear a conservative suit and tie; no Mickey Mouse ties, musical boxer shorts or luminous socks
- Clean your shoes
- Do your hair
- Make your self look smart, you only have one chance to make a good impression, get it right!!!!
- Read the job spec thoroughly and brush up on anything that you might be rusty on
- Make sure you get there at least 15 minutes early
- If you are going to be late call them or the recruiter who has helped you set up the interview!
- Make sure you turn your mobile off in the interview!
- Try to stick away from money, if the client doesn’t discuss money then leave it to me if they do then tell then to talk to me (I can negotiate the best deal for you!)
- Towards the end of the interview ask if the client has any questions/reservations about you, or if there is anything that they didn’t understand at anytime throughout the interview, ask questions
- Best of luck!
